What a nightmare today, I dropped a half full bag of powdered sugar in my kitchen... I was making icing for my class tomorrow night and if just flipped out my hand  and went flying. Ontop of that fiasco I asked Liam to pick out cakemix for cupcakes for his bakesale at school. He picked the yellow butter recipe and they did not turn out. I'm going to have to dump them their is no salvaging them.

I should be coloring fondant now but I've run out of steam... I've got a few fall type flowers and leaves to get made.

Just for Kicks I started taking the Wilton course 1... They've changed it so i thought oh what the heck... This class is way better than the class I took 25 yrs ago...
My next project is my parents 60th Anniversary cake for Oct 21st. Wayne wants me to make the fondant ribbon for the top, I picked up some lovely fall colored ribbons at Micheal's last week.
I worked on a new chocolate sour cream cake batter from scratch. Of coarse i screwed it up on the first try i over did the butter not reading the recipe rite.... I brought it into the people I work with and they went wild for it. So I'm sure are I correct my mistake it will be just as delicious.
I spent the whole day last Sunday in the kitchen and when it came time to make the home icing I was pretty tired... I took half a bag of dark chocolate pieces a stick a butter and a heaping table spoon of cocoa powder and let it melt on the stove with dinner was in the oven. Once I got it creamed down I should added some shortening but I was experimenting I added a bag and half of powder sugar  and didn't measure out how much water I tossed in but somehow I made a lovely thick gnash..
The cupcakes i started with were way better after being in the fridge for 2 days and with that thick chocolate frosting they were totally killer...

So I had this very funny idea yesterday... I was thinking about Wills & Kate's engagement and I thought I'd bake them a cake. Oh yeah any excuse to bake a cake haha!!! But I was thinking about using the tiny tiers cake pan set Aunt Rosie picked up for me.

So Thanksgiving is just going to be the 3 of us. My brother is heading down to Md to his son's and my sister is heading out to WV. And the house is going to be torn up with the construction on the front. Hum, sounds like some good quality time to get some crap cleaned up, especially the cake decorating stuff. Should get started on planning out Brett's birthday cake for early January. I have to possibly locate a Harry Potter pan and put some designs together for Hogwarts castle. I think I'll spend the time fooling around with rice crispy treats and see if I can make the castle towers and parapets. Give it a dry run and see if I can get it to turn out.

I just saw this add from Godiva chocolate $5 for 5 chocolate covered oreos.
OK so It will cost me a little more that $5 but I'll get more than 5 when I'm done,! rite?
So I'm thinking a good rainy day project would be to buy a bag of the Halloween Oreo's with the Orange filling and grab some chocolate melts and go to town..
Sounds like a plan.

Got a lot of stuff done and nothing accomplished over the weekend. I was going to make brownie cut them into shapes & stuff but had no time to do it. Next weekend I plan on doing sugar cookies. Thanks to the handy tips from the Wilton on FB I was given a good idea to get the cookies to keep their shape while baking. After you cut out the cookies and put them on the cookie sheet, refrigerate the cookie sheet for 20 mins. I went out & bought a couple more cookie sheets so I can try to accomplish this in relative ease. First I need to make room in the fridge lol!!!
I've some cool fall leaves and a ton of Halloween cutters that have never really been used so this gives me a good excuse to use them, it also justifies all the baking crap taking over the dinning room.

I forgot that also Rosie sent me a dual heart pan, a shell pan the book pan. And the tiny tiers cake pan set.... I don't know where to start. I was talking to Kelly PTA President that we need to get some bake sales going.. I'm up for cookies and cupcakes.
I will start playing around with the gum paste flowers cutters Rosie also picked up for me. I plan on spending the whole weekend coming up baking and playing around with my new stuff.

Anniversay cake

I received my package from Aunt Rosie last week before we went to Cousin Joey's wedding. I had forgotten she picked up the petal pan set for me so I was really excited when I found that in the box. I just hadn't realized how big it was... I'm gonna have to get another large tote. Boy the dinning room is filling up fast. Yikes!!! At my Mom's house she gave me 2 glass cake plates from Grandma one is a pedestal, I have no idea where to store those also. She also gave me a collection of dollies and tablecloths.

So today is my 20th wedding anniversary and no big plans for the night, Meet the Teachers is tonight... SO this weekend I'm gonna do a cake for us. But what to make????? Gotta use those new pans and need to use one of Grandma's cake plates. Geesh! So many Ideas!

I was going to do a Wizard of Oz themed cakes for Valerie but lots my energy and just feel like doing all the work. This bronchitis has really kicked me down and I'm still tired. Now it's ragweed season and the allergies are turned up to the top notch. I'm still waiting for Kevna to get back from Md. so I can make the India Bridal doll cake for her.
So for Valerie Liam made her cupcakes and she was thrilled with that. I put him work in the kitchen and he did a great job getting them made and iced.
What sucks is that Middle school has gotten rid of cooking, metal and wood shop classes. I'm going to have some local classes to get him into since he likes to bake it won't kill him to learn something.

Ok so I didn't go for the pillow pans yet. I was trying not to spend a lot of money last weekend. Yeah Rite! Ok so I'm thinking Cheesecake for Katie something different.

Article in the Coaster

The local paper did an article on my cake decorating. They used pic's of the Monkey & Shark cakes and listed a recipe for Devils food cake I supplied. (I think they used that one I didn't really look)
I have to do a cake for my friend Katie, her birthday is next week and we are going camping together with the kids at the end of next week. The husbands get to stay home with the dogs lol!!!
I'm dying to buy the new Wilton Pillow pans I may have to use this cake as an excuse to go get them, along with the 40% coupon from Michaels.
I just got the silicon pearl molds from First Impressions, I was having fun playing with those last weekend. I brushed dry silver pearl dust into them then pressed some left over fondant from the Twilight cake into them, after a few try's I got some good looking pearl strands. The DH has a new exacter knife set he wants to give me so I can clean up the edges of the fondant from the forms.
I was thinking with the Pillow for Katie's cake I would just do something simple for a first try.
